Yes I Just Marked You as Spam

In the last few weeks I’ve been getting an increasing amount of emails from all the social networks I’m a part of.

Linkedin started doing news, and felt I needed another email.

Twitter decided to start emailing me friend suggestions. Further back, they decided I needed some sort of summary email each week.

Facebook decided that I suddenly needed group update emails. Despite spending time trying to turn them off I keep getting them.

I’m sure some marketing type somewhere can show numbers to prove engagement is up with these new emails. Which means, we’re going to be getting more and more of them.

My new response to any of these email policy changes is to simply mark them as spam. I don’t have time to track down an obscure setting on your control panel so I’m not going to bother. Keep sending me emails, I’m never going to see them.
