Does a Comment Help Your Mission?

Regarding the statements me make and into what context we make them, just yesterday we talked about this at the bible college I am on the board of.

One of the points we made as we talked about the statements we make in to the world is how long we have to make it. Are we being asked for a sound bite? If so, we can never get to the complexity of any situation, so let’s not bother.

One member of the board brought up the advice they were given that we must also ask if it is beneficial for the college to say anything? Will it further the mission of the college? Is it just some Christian opinion? Does the discussion at hand fall in to the mission of the college in that its outcome effects us?

So in most cases we decided that if e are not owning up to a fault we have had, we don’t comment because it doesn’t help our mission.
