Bigger Ideas

Platform agnostic ideas that may help your PKM process. They may feature a software, but I think they apply to more than a single platform.

A good implementation of Zettelkasten is lean and focused on knowledge-based value creation.

Here is a book on a page summary of How to Take Smart Notes.

How you can use Evernote to organize your day. The widgets setup here are interesting and you could absolutely build something like this in many other tools.

Where do you put permanent notes in your PKM system?

How Nicole uses PKM tools to learn languages.

The OP certainly seems lost with his note-taking. I’ve been a developer for 12+ years and I promise that I still use Stack Overflow and Google daily to answer questions. I just know the question to ask faster and how to evaluate the answers better.

Any thoughts on which apps support right to left languages best?

Which tool is best to organize your YouTube videos to watch? I gave my answer which is, if you’re not watching the videos now a new tool won’t help.

People are looking for “regular people” showing off their PKM. Specifically, they’re not looking for content creators showing off content creation-focused stuff.

Something Interesting

Because we’re all lookin to expand our minds a bit.

I found this post on salary transparency interesting. When I’ve done hiring I always post the salary range. After research, while hiring I found that women and minority applicants regularly were paid lower than white dudes if they were left to advocate for their own salary and I didn’t like that idea at all.

Should you do a bunch of things or focus on a single thing?

Can AI provide intimacy?

Software

How to use the Table of Contents in DEVONthink.

DEVONthink released 3.8.6 with native OCR for Apple Silicon Macs plus some new AppleScript tools.

logseq

Some love for logseq as an open source application.

Craft

What’s new in Craft 2.3.4? State restoration is a nice quality of life improvement.

Are we going to get tabs in the Craft Windows app?

These are some good critiques of Craft from someone new to the application.

If you’re a student make sure you check out the discounts that you can get on Craft.

Obsidian

Good tour of taking notes on podcasts with PodNotes.

The October Obsidian event is focused on helping out students.

How Santi uses Obsidian Advanced Slides to make presentations better.

Why Justin still chooses Obsidian in 2022?

Yup I use affiliate links sometimes to support the newsletter. If it’s on Amazon, it’s an affiliate link for sure.
