What if you spent a year re-reading the books you thought were your favourites? I’ve often thought of some rule like this for a year of reading.
- I can only read books that were written before I was born
- Only reading books I already own, no purchasing more
I always end up reading what seems interesting though which often lends itself towards more recent books.
I have re-read my Brandon Sanderson collection a few times. I often re-read The Faded Sun Trilogy to start the year from an old paperback I have dog-eared. This year I have the original prints though which makes it even more special.
The non-fiction I’ve re-read that sticks out is Deep Work by Cal Newport. I found my first read mindblowing in that it was saying all the things I’d been feeling about my distracted work but hadn’t been able to articulate. The second read a few years later affirmed that thought.
Do you re-read your books?
