Listening With Intent to Reply

Most people don’t listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply. They’re either speaking or preparing to speak.

This type of quote always makes me think of Fight Club and why the main character goes to support groups. He goes because when you’re dying “people really listen.”
