Yes I think that 99% of businesses suck and it's unlikely I'll work for most people (on full time contract or as an employee) but Valve seems like a place that might suit, at least judging from their employee manual
It’s our shorthand way of saying that we don’t have any management, and nobody “reports to” anybody else. We do have a founder/president, but even he isn’t your manager. This company is yours to steer—toward opportunities and away from risks. You have the power to green-light projects. You have the power to ship products.
If you want to like where you work less then read through the manual. If you run a business, maybe you can pick up some clues that will let you keep your employees happy.
