[Interesting and horrid story of sporting parents trying to get their kids into college](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/11/squash-lacrosse-niche-sports-ivy-league-admissions/616474/). Even at the local figure skating clube, which my wife runs, we see some of this for 8 and 10 year olds. Parents flying them around the country trying to find some edge and kids intentionally degrading the others in the club to try and keep some edge over their “competition”.

Her overriding goal is to stop this and build girls and women that are strong and confident and have a good support network from the other skaters in the club.

Unfortunately, parents easily make this an uphill battle.
