Yesterday I wrote about the media demanding our attention and we can’t find the time we need to be creative.
One thing I forgot to mention is that it’s okay to be bad at things. I’m terrible at email, I don’t respond in Discord, and as I said yesterday my phone is almost entirely muted. My plan for today is to do more reading so I can have fuel for being creative. I could deal with my 200+ emails, but then I’d never be able to read so I’m not going to worry about it.
One fallacy we tell ourselves is that the “good” people get all their email done, they reply to everyone nicely, and they still have time to read/write/make videos. This isn’t true at all. The creatives you admire shut off so many areas of their life that they don’t invest in so that they have the space to think and be creative.
Let yourself off the hook.
