You've got two choices for your work as you gain more success and earn more money.

First, you could take the path that most people take and accumulate stuff and work more. Take on employees or get promotions and more responsibility. You have more money coming in, and likely more money coming out so you may not actually be "getting ahead" in any meaningful way but you can look at your salary and feel like you made it.

Second, you can purchase your time. When I started my business I worked 60+ hour weeks to make enough money to supply my part of the household income for my wife and I. Now I work 15 hours a week for other people which is the bulk of my income, and that supplies the money needed for 2 adults, 3 children, 1 dog.

I work at the bike shop one day a week in the summer for $18/hour. I loose out per hour worked based on what they pay me, but it's fun and I get discounts on bike stuff.

I write on Friday's and then when the weather is nice I go for long bike rides and take naps. I take a 90 minute morning date with my wife every Friday after we drop the kids off at school.

Monday I do YouTube videos and then I go do what I want after 11am, which is currently working at that bike shop.

Overall, I don't actually bring that much more home than I did 5-years ago but I did purchase a life with bike rides, fun jobs, and lots of time to do what I want.

By many measure I'm not as "successful" as the people that started coding when I did, but compared to all but a very few, I have a much more full life outside of sitting at a computer typing code for money every day.

After your basics are covered, I'd always encourage you to use your earnings to purchase your time back so that you can pursue what you want.
