I'm skeptical of widely useful AI, and even more so as AI is eating itself now. The article linked is a great look at how AI isn't as hot as startup companies would have us believe. Sure it helped my write a script to protect client sites from DDOS attacks this week, but I couldn't simply unleash it on our server infrastructure and tell it to "make it better". In fact I'd be grossly negligent if I did that.

AI isn't profitable. Uses vast amounts of energy and isn't very useful unless you want to spit out SEO spam reviews to make a quick buck.

Anyone that thinks AI is going to make their job vastly easier is falling into the same trap I see all the time when I talk to people about their notes. They want something to give them all the answers without any of the hard work. They're looking for the next trick, instead of sitting down and doing the hard work.
