Coming in 2nd, just 7 seconds behind an unbeatable Cancellara, Wiggins has shown that he is still on form and deserving of his moniker as the favourite for the Tour win.

Out of the rest of the GC contenders Evans is the next best at 17 seconds down, followed closely by Hesjedal at 18 seconds off the pace. We have to go all the way down to 38 seconds back to see a Schleck, which may leave Radioshack-Nissan Trek with Andreas Klöden as the GC rider since he is only 19 seconds back.

The best thing that I saw today was that Cancellara is back on form. He kept up his record of being unbeatable in the Tour Prologue’s, and did it by a decent margin.

Whomever ends up in the Yellow jersey, you can be sure we’re going to see an awesome battle between the GC favourites.
