The best of the old ways are valuable not because they’re old, but because they are tried and tested. They work. Sometimes they are equal or superior to the new ways, sometimes they’re less efficient. But efficiency isn’t always the goal, is it? – Storing your stuff in plaintext is part of a bigger picture

Not only are the old ways tried and tested but given their longevity already they’re more likely to continue to work and be popular. This is called the Lindy effect. You see this in popular books too. If the book has been in print for 50 years, it’s likely that it will still be in print in 50 more years.

This is also why I like plain text and use it for all my notes and my task management.
