Book 3 of the Sun Eater series follow Hadrian as he tries to play politics so he can figure out what the Quiet really is. He already knows that the AI systems built by old Earth scientists could communicate with beings in other dimensions and across time, but he needs more information and access to the secret parts of the Imperial Library to see if the are records that are now banned after the AI wars.

Hadrian encounters the Quiet in a deeper way and they change him so that he can see quantum possibilities.

While I questioned the first book, the later volumes have drawn me in and I'll be jumping directly into the next book in the series.
