IFTTT Twitter Trigger Removal is good for App.net

So one of the bigger storied lately is the removal of IFTTT triggers that allow you to send tweets to other places automatically. Yes this sucks for archiving purposes (which I think is stupid anyway) but I think it’s good for alternative services like App.net.

See all the people I found using triggers to send stuff to ADN were simply posting link to stuff, even people I normally follow in Twitter. They were basically spammers and never engaged with anyone on ADN anyway.

Yes losing the triggers mot likely means that in the short term there will be less activity on ADN but long term it’s going to mean that those who are there are actually invested. They will be more likely to engage. They will actually make the service better.

I say goodbye triggers, and good riddance.
