Automate Obsidian with Shortcuts

Shortcuts is a powerful tool to aid in your automation on iPadOS, iOS, and now macOS. Today we’re going to look at 3 different Shortcuts I use to make taking notes with Obsidian easier from my mobile devices.

Wait you said macOS too. I did but macOS Shortcuts is kind of broken so we won’t be worrying about it today. It’s getting more stable in beta releases, but that’s not now for everyone.

  1. Add DEVONthink item to Obsidian
  2. Append to Daily Note
  3. Quick Capture Idea

One extra power feature you can use with a Shortcut of your choice is the accessibility settings and Back Tap. I’ve tied 2 taps to my Quick Capture Shortcut so I can quickly jot down notes I want to take.
