This week I read that the school district my children are in has a shortage of 59 teachers. Then a day later you read that another rural district in the same province didn’t have an issue with finding teachers once they started paying them more.

Almost every time I see a “shortage” in workers it seems to come down to not wanting to pay workers enough to do the job. Starbucks had to raise wages to get workers. Hotels and food services are having trouble finding workers, maybe pay them more?

The cost of living is high, and wages haven’t kept up with that increase. If you’re having trouble finding someone to do the work…pay them more.
