I’ve seen a number of people jumping on the outage for Discord to say that “see you shouldn’t put important information behind Discord it could go down”.
While I agree that you shouldn’t put user communication and documentation in Discord this outage in no way means Discord is bad. Your forum or documentation site could also go down and then all that important information would still be inaccessible to users. They wouldn’t be able to search it until you got it back up.
The reason that Discord is bad for user questions and documentation is the ephemeral nature of Discord. Conversations go past fast. Replies are all over pertaining to many questions. As Discords I used to participate in got busy, I stopped going because it was a never ending flood of text going by.
