Matt talked about his modifications, which add your control keys to the home row of your keyboard. I’ve been testing this idea out since just before he wrote the post and I do like it, but there is a downside.

The big downside is that when I grab my laptop to go work somewhere else I don’t have the same home row mods available. That has lead to issues trying to capitalize letters, and cut/copy/paste stuff.

Overall, I’m usually fairly adaptable to new keyboard layouts, so I’m hoping this holds true and my brain breaks in with the keyboard switch. For instance, I’ve been typing Dvorak layout for years now and really can’t touch type on a standard QWERTY layout anymore, unless it’s the software keyboard on my iPad, where I can type fairly well without looking at the keys.
